About us:

Briljantina Rock'n'Roll Club (in English Briljantina means Grease) is a group of dance enthusiasts, particularly dedicated to Rock’n’Roll and Boogie-Woogie. Our mission is to promote and develop Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll dancing in Slovenia, especially among young people.

Our philosophy is to contribute to the positive character building of our young dancers, and help them develop into mature contestants and responsible and well respected members of tomorrow. We train all the year and participate in national and international competitions; we also organize local competitions and those of a more global character. We like to spend time together also in our free time: once a year we go to a week-long summer camp, get together at picnics, go to the cinema or enjoy a concert.

Briljantina Rock’n’Roll Club is a non-profit organization operated entirely by volunteers. All our efforts and activities are directed into making Rock’n’Roll workshops available to the general public; to this end the fees for workshops are low and cover only the actual costs.

The coaches in Briljantina Rock’n’RollClub work in a voluntary capacity which allows the Club to save some money for the participation in international competitions. Parents - volunteers and other members of our Club help according to their best abilities, since we understand volunteerism as the fundamental basis for a long-term development for the benefit of Slovene sport and community.

Our goals

Briljantina Teens is a Rock’n’Roll Junior Formation composed of 12 dancers from our Club, aged from 12 to 18 years, who like to spend time together as friends also behind the dance stage. Briljantina Teens have been on the top since 2012 (World and European Champions and Vice-Champions).

When preparing this formation, we wanted to include in it also dancers who are not ranked on world top, thus enabling them to have a taste of how it feels like to dance on international stage. It was also a great opportunity to create a special bond among the competitors and to feel what it is like to dance as a group.

Prepare yourself to be blown away by a brilliantly choreographed performance by Briljantina Teens, consisting of Hana Brce, Loti Marinko, Danaja and Rebeka Kurnik, Nina Rebeka Slabe, Ajda Zajc, Tim Marekovič, Matevž Poličnik, Blaž Rus, Gašper Sever and Jaka and Žiga Vrevc Žlajpah, dancing to a mix of ABBA songs. This season will be the last that we will perform in this composition.

But in order to achieve this goal, we need much physical preparation and dance trainings, gyms or halls where we can practice, costumes, music mixes, air tickets to travel abroad (many Rock’n’Roll competitions are held in Russia, which means huge expenses)..., i.e. we need money and great energy - which we already have loads of!

In 2016 we would like to compete in two major events, European Championship in Ljubljana in October and World Championship in Socchi, Russia in November.
In order to reach this goal we have to train hard at first, build up our form on smaller events (Croatia, Czech Rep., Austria) and finally raise up enough funds to take part, not only in ECh in Slovenia, but also in WCh in Russia.

With this project we want to raise enough funds to be able to prepare for planned competitions and thus enabling us to save our own resources for the planed travel to Russia.

The funds, raised in this project, will be used for:
- training hall for formation
- costs of the music mix
- costs of the costumes and shoes
- costs of the corporate identity of Briljantina teens
- travel expenses for smaller events

Our main goal is to encourage young people to grow into responsible adults with healthy fundamentals of good sportsmanship, so that our youth can promote their way of life, be an example, and inspire others to do the same.

Each year we also organize a special event called Memorial Primoža Bizilja to celebrate the memory of the late Primož Bizilj, the fist dancer of Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll in Slovenia.

This year we are organizing and hosting the 15th Anniversary of the Memorial, which attracts every year the crème de la crème of Rock’n’Roll dancers and enthusiasts to visit Ljubljana.

At Memorial you will be able to see live the colourful and stunning performance of Briljantina teens. Competing at the European Championship there will be approximately 15 formations.

So join us on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the sport hall Dobrova near Ljubljana and enjoy the vibrant music, colorful costumes and positive energy all brought to you by over 700 dancers from at least 15 countries, competing in categories: RR Juveniles, RR Juniors, RR B-Class and Formations.
