Our conductor has a strong connection to Sweden and Stockholm. For a long time now she has wished to create a cooperation with Swedish choirs, so we have decided to organise a tour to Sweden. This will create a bond with local choirs and bring our culture to Slovenian nationals living in Sweden. With this we will wreathe together the cultures of Slovenia and Sweden in common musical performance.
The tour will be between the 22nd and the 30th of April 2018. The first leg of our journey will take us to Hannover, where we will have our first full concert on the evening of the 23rd of April in the Neustädter Hof- und Stadtkirche. From there our path will lead us straight to Stockholm where we'll be on the 24th of April. You can listen to us again on the 26th of April, when we will have a second full concert in the Saint Pers church in Uppsala. The third full concert will be in Stockholm on the 27th of April, in the Adolf Friderik church. As our last act in Sweden we will be a part of the Slovenian mass on the 28th of April, that will take place in the cathedral of saint Eric (Katolska Domkyrkan). But before the mass we will also perform in Historiska museet in Stockholm.
Akademski pevski zbor Tone Tomšič University of Ljubljana unites students from all departments of the University of Ljubljana, who share a great love of singing and an unceasing wish to perform at the highest artistic level. The choir continues the tradition of the Akademski pevski zbor v Ljubljani (Academic Choir of the University of Ljubljana) founded in 1926 by France Marolt, which consisted of male singers only. In the years between 1938 and1940 Marolt also conducted the Female Academic choir. After the cultural silence held during the Second World War, the choir recommenced its activity, this time as a mixed choir under a new name: Akademski pevski zbor Tone Tomšič. The choir has always been led by recognized conductors such as: France Marolt, Radovan Gobec, Janez Bole, Lojze Lebič, Igor Lavrič, Marko Munih, Jože Fürst, Jernej Habjanič, Stojan Kuret, Urša Lah and Sebastjan Vrhovnik. Since October 2015 the choir is led by Jerica Gregorc Bukovec.
